Why do you love fly fishing?
I love fly fishing because of the peace it brings me and how it's always evolving, whether it be working on your cast, tying flies, or testing out what gear will give you a better chance at hooking into fish there's always something different to try out.
How did you get started in the sport?
I started fishing at a young age with my dad and uncles, living on long island there is so much opportunity to get into all kinds of salt/fresh water species. As far as fly fishing goes I stumbled into it one day while hiking around the Turkey woods in PA where I came across a stream with trout and instantly purchased a rod and reel to bring on my next trip, i was hooked from that moment on, the spot and stalk nature of fly fishing is what makes it my favorite type of fishing.
Where is your favorite place to fish and why?
So far I would have to say fly fishing the flats of Aruba has been my favorite place to fly fish, The streams and lakes I fished before don't seem to have the same feeling after chasing bonefish in the flats while fighting the constant Aruba winds.
What is your dream destination to fish?
Lately I've been dreaming of fishing for reds in the Lowcountry of South Carolina, stalking the marsh looking for tailing fish seems like so much fun!
Why is the Atollas brand special to you?
Atollas was the first company to collaborate with me for photos, the relationship I've built from that has given me much more confidence in photography and opened many new doors I would have never thought possible, the people behind Atollas are top notch and even better the products they make are thoughtfully designed and built tough. I cannot say enough good things about the people and products of Atollas.
What Atollas product(s) are in your everyday carry?
Currently I've been chasing holdover striped bass in the back bays close to home and the 2GO Fly Box paired with the Fly Caddy XL has been on me every single day! Its the perfect system for wading in or paddling out on my kayak. I even bring it on the boat just in case we run into a feed while fishing with bait and it keeps my files ready to go.
Which one is your favorite and why?
The 2GO Fly Box is my favorite because of how the storage layout is designed. It allows a smaller box to maximize space for all kinds of flies I throw, from larger baitfish patterns to small crab flies; they all have a place in the 2GO Fly Box!
